The children's version of the award winning Settlers of Catan from Germany. As in the adult version the game centers on collecting resources to build things. This game is firmly geared towards younger children, in the 4-8 age range. Clever three year olds who can take turns will also enjoy this game.

Each player has a cart. The first player rolls the dice and rotates the big village that number of squares. all the players look and see if a resource they haven't collected yet has ended up next to them and if so they can add it to their cart. But if a robber has found them then they may have to give a resource back.

Once a player's cart is full they can put a building into the village, they will know where it goes by matching the shapes. Then they empty the cart, put the resources back where they belong and begin collecting again. When the player has put all their buildings in the village they can collect enough rescources to build the town hall., the player who builds the town hall is the winner. If more than one player gets there at the same time then they all win.

Real strength of this game for younger children is that everyone has something to look out for at every turn, so you don't bored waiting for other players to make a decision. There is luck, but also an element of strategy, in deciding how to place your resources back on the board you can help yourself or hinder the other players. Very high quality wooden pieces and buildings mean that some children play with this as a toy as well as game.
