![oak backgammon]() | A backgammon board has spikes instead of squares. You place your counters on the spikes to create identical starting positions for each player. When it is your turn you roll two dice and move your counters from spike to spike. You are simply trying to get all your counters to your end of the board or home section. Then you must move them off the board or bear off.
Along the way you can land on your opponent's pieces and send them back to begin their journey. And they can do the same to you.
Because both colours may not sit on the same spike you can also block the backgammon board and make your opponent miss a turn, giving you a chance to pull ahead.
